Dr. Kuno Sommer, PhD (Chairman of the Board)

Dr. Sommer studied economic science with a doctorate in political science from the Basel University. Before 1990 he held various positions at the Roche AG Vitamins and Fine Chemicals division. From 1990 to 1994 he was the head of the North American branch of the Roche division "Animal Feed and Health". From 1995 he was a member of the executive committee of the Vitamin and Fine Chemicals division of Roche and was responsible for global sales and marketing. 1998 he became CEO of Givaudan-Roure in Geneva and Member of the Executive Committee of Roche AG in 1998/99. From 2000 - February 2006 he was CEO of Berna Biotech. After the take-over of Berna Biotech AG by Crucell N.V. Dr. Sommer was Chief Business Officer and member of the EC of Crucell N.V. until October 2008. Since November 2008 Dr. Sommer is CEO of Harlan Laboratories Ltd.

Dr. h.c. Peter Grogg

Honorary doctor, trained as a laboratory assistant with Ciba AG. Various positions in peptide research at Ciba AG (from 1961); Partner of Fox Chemical Corporation in LA (1964). Incorporation of his own company Bachem AG (1971), which is listed on the Swiss stock market (since 1998) and plays a leading role worldwide in peptide manufacturing. Chairman of the board of Bachem Holding AG (Bubendorf) and member of the board Dottikon ES Holding AG (Dottikon). Member of the supervisory/executive boards of the following organizations: Rehab (Basel), SGCI (Zurich), Chamber of Commerce of the Basel Cantons.

Hans-Beat Gürtler

Hans-Beat Gürtler has a commercial education and spent most of his professional career with Ciba-Geigy and Novartis. He held various positions with growing responsibility in the agricultural and animal health field in Switzerland and abroad. From 1990 to 2002, he was global CEO of Novartis Animal Health. In late 2002, he joined Varuma, a private investor. He serves as a Board Member in various companies.

Prof. Dr. Hans Hengartner

Hans Hengartner studied biochemistry and molecular biology at ETH Zurich and holds a doctorate in natural sciences from ETH Zurich. He is currently Co-Director of the Institute for Experimental Immunology at the University Hospital of Zurich. He is also ordinary professor for immunology at the medical faculty of the University of Zurich and at the Department of biology of ETH Zurich. From 2000 to 2005 Hans Hengartner was Head of the Department of Biology at ETH Zurich.

Dr. Nikolaus F Rentschler

Dr. Nikolaus F. Rentschler studied Biology at the Universities of Bayreuth and Erlangen and obtained a doctorate in human biology at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich in 1998. He then completed the International Executive Program INSEAD. From 1992 to 1996 Dr. Rentschler worked as Assistant to the Management of Dr. Rentschler Arzneimittel GmbH & Co. where he particularly focused on strategy, organization and marketing. In 1996 he assumed the position of Project Leader at Schering GmbH, Vienna, setting up a new product line and distributive channel. Since 1999 he has been the Managing Director of Dr. Rentschler Holding GmbH & Co.KG and Rentschler Biotechnologie GmbH. Moreover, in 2004 Dr. Rentschler was appointed Chairman of BioRegion Ulm, Förderverein Biotechnologie e. V. and Head of the Council of the University of Applied Science in Biberach in 2009.
